BitrotX
BitrotX is a continuation of grejppi’s Bitrot suite of audio plugins for glitch effects for CLAP, LV2, and VST3. Notably, the plugins now have UIs, support the latest audio plugin formats, and are packaged as ready-to-use binaries.
The original author deserves almost all of the credit. I didn’t get a response when I asked about the name and attribution of the fork, so I renamed it to avoid confusion. Unfortunately, this breaks most existing projects.

- MacOS support is experimental. My only Apple device is a 2011 Mac Mini, so if you run into issues on a modern Apple system, there’s not much I can do.

- BitrotX is released under the Apache License 2.0.
- The DISTRHO Plugin Framework (DPF) is released under the ISC License.

Issues
Please report any bugs and other problems to the issue tracker.
Known issues
- The Linux build targets Debian Forky (testing) because the toolchain in Debian Trixie (stable) doesn’t support #embed and working around that would be annoying. If your distribution isn’t somewhat recent, the plugins will fail to load the system libraries, and you won’t be able to use them.
- The Windows installer displays SmartScreen warnings. This is because code signing costs money, and I don’t release enough Windows binaries to justify paying for it.
- The MacOS plugins might get blocked by Gatekeeper. Again, this is because code signing costs money, and I don’t release enough MacOS binaries to justify paying for it.
- The plugin UIs depend on OpenGL and will either crash the host or show a blank window if it’s not available.
