nyanserv

nyanserv is a replacement server for Meow Meow Star Acres — a mobile game by COLOPL that was released in April 2014 and shut down in July 2025.

Why?

Back in 2023, I was playing Meow Meow Star Acres because I felt nostalgic about it, and I took captures of the network traffic and asset bundles in case the game’s servers shut down. The game was eventually shut down on 14 July 2025, and I felt somewhat obligated to preserve it because I was (probably) the only person in a position to do so.

Is this useful?

Unfortunately, the server depends on resources owned by COLOPL to initialize new installations of the game, so the code itself isn’t useful unless you have a past installation of the game or access to the game’s asset bundles. However, if you have them, you can start your own server.

That said, if anyone else misses this game, I’d be more than happy to launch a public server to make it playable again, so feel free to reach out.
